2025 SailGP Championship — Britain win first-ever title

At the end of the 2024–25 SailGP Championship, the Emirates Great Britain SailGP Team won their first overall title. They beat the best teams in the world in a nail-biting finish in Abu Dhabi. This win is a historic turning point for sailing in the UK. At the start of the season, Emirates GBR was one of the most dependable teams, and they turned their good play into wins. The big change came when they raced against the tough BONDS Flying Roos SailGP Team from Australia and the Black Foils SailGP Team from New Zealand at the Mubadala Abu Dhabi Sail Grand Prix Grand Final. There was only one winner of the race, and each team was in the lead at different times. But when it mattered, Britain came out on top. Dylan Fletcher, the helmsperson, made an amazing comeback from third place in the middle of the race to pass both of his competitors and win the $2 million top prize. When they were under pressure, they were better at judging the wind, their foiling was almost perfect (with a Foiling Percentage of 98%), and their strategies were better.
